Picture the consultant. The marketing people. Senior Leadership. In a room together, unable to actually do anything, so they talk. They hold forth. They fill the air.
I used to be good at that. It lands more work. Easy.
But somewhere along the way I ended up in the other seat. The Solver seat. Head down. Doing. Finishing. The work itself became the reward, and that was enough. So enough, in fact, that I stopped needing to talk about it. Stopped talking altogether.
Two types. The Talker, and the Solver.
Now people say AI collapses the gap. Give the Talker a code generator and suddenly he builds things. Progress, right? Maybe. But watch what he actually builds: a gimmick. Something to show off.
Because a Talker will always be a Talker. The instinct is performance, not craft.
And the Solver? He looks at what AI produces and thinks: not good enough. Because it isn't, not by his standard. So he keeps doing it himself. The Solver stays a Solver.
AI doesn't transform either type. It just gives each one more material to be exactly who they already are.
But there is a third person.
He was never loud enough to be a real Talker.
Never credentialed enough to be a real Solver.
He existed in the middle, quietly shut out from both sides. Not by lack of intelligence. By lack of access.
He never got access to those high-tech jobs. Never the cubicle offices. Never the free food and ping-pong table.
AI opens the door for him. He walks through. And in that single step, he becomes something neither the Talker nor the Solver ever managed to be.
Both.
That is the new species. Not a consultant who learned to code. Not an engineer who learned to present. Someone entirely new, born from the gap, arriving precisely because he had nothing to protect and everything to gain.
Watch for him. He is already building.
